Rear extension groundworks — Chigwell

This Chigwell rear extension started with careful groundworks: excavating the rear garden to lower the ground level and clear the footprint ready for foundations.

On site we used a mini digger and tracked dumper to dig out, load excavated soil, and tip it into skips. Track marks across the garden show the full dig-out before the area was brought back up to level.

Once the bulk dig was complete, we levelled the ground — spreading hardcore, moving larger rocks, and checking levels with a laser — leaving a tidy, even base beside the house, including access around the existing manhole.

Regular plant maintenance, such as greasing the digger arm, kept the machines reliable throughout the job so the groundworks could progress safely and on schedule.
